Why I’m running for

Irvine City Council District 1

My family has a long history of public service whether serving in the military, teaching at our schools and universities, or serving as a police officer. My values were based on always looking for ways to help others and treating people with respect and dignity. I’m running for office to be an advocate for residents in District 1 while giving a voice to their concerns regarding development and the impact on our schools and traffic; to develop and implement a wildfire management and evacuation plan; to establish and provide accessibility of the new open space at the Gateway Preserve; to plan, design and build the first District 1 Community Center as a central gathering place for residents; and to bring thousands more trees to the area through the City’s revitalized Urban Forest Master Plan. On my website, I’ve detailed the policies that I will pursue to make a measurable difference in the quality of life for all District 1 residents.

In addition, I believe our City should be a leader in supporting our quality schools and police while creating an innovative citywide solar program that is measurable and achievable. I will work to support the Great Park Framework Plan moving forward with community and open space amenities. And I will support and preserve the Irvine Master Plan while providing sensible solutions to affordable homeownership focused on our seniors, veterans, and local workforce.

Irvine District Map

In March 2024, voters had the chance to vote on whether the City Council expands and moves to district-based elections, and yes or no on Map 151.

Michelle was the District 1 Leader for the “Yes on D!” campaign, the ballot measure to expand the Irvine City Council and transition to district elections. Measure D was broadly supported by voters in District 1 and passed citywide in March 2024.
